Bhatkal: Normally, as the elections approach, many groups come front keeping their demands with political leaders and parties. But, interestingly the people of Shirur, neighbouring village of Bhatkal comes under Udupi district, have launched a unique formula in the name 'No road, No vote'.
According to the sources, this formula was decided by the residents of Hadwin Goni area of Shirur village as most of the areas from Shirur market goes via Hadwin Goni road. Locals say, "the officials were reminded several times seeking construction of roads, which fell on the deaf ears. Hence, the youth along with residents have decided not to vote for any of the candidates in the upcoming election even if the roads are constructed".
The posters and pamphlets representing 'No road, No vote' were seen posted on the roadside and stuck on the Auto rickshaws in Shirur. It will be interesting to see whether the political leaders will be able to fulfill the demands and make the residents feel comfortable.
