Karwar: Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G Parameshwara will lead the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections, but it is not clear whether Siddaramaiah will continue as the chief minister if the party retains power.
During a private visit to Honnavar on Saturday, he said after the election, the legislators of the party will decide the chief minister. Now it is not possible to say who will be next CM.
Reacting to BJP’s win in the local body elections in Uttar Pradesh, he said there is no big deal in it. Since the BJP is in power, it won the local body polls. The BJP leaders were claiming that the Congress is defeated in Rahul Gandhi’s constituency Amethi, but their party exhibited poor performance in the constituencies of their Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
On party’s prospect in Gujarat, he said: “There is anti-incumbency sentiment against the BJP in Gujarat. The people of the state are fed up with the bad administration. Therefore they will support the Congress in this election.” The Congress ruling Karnataka is far ahead in development than the BJP ruling Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. It shows the Congress has been giving good administration, he claimed.
