Mangaluru: An announcement was made by the DK District Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association here on Tuesday threatening to go on indefinite strike if their demands were not to be met.
The announcement was made by the president of the organisation B K Imthiyaz while addressing the media persons.
According to Imthiyaz, “The Ola and Uber companies are luring youth to operate the taxis by means of false offers. Once a person accepts their offer, the burden of repaying the loans taken for taxis falls on their shoulders.”
“Moreover, the recent Ola and Uber rate plan has casued trouble for the operaters in addition to the deduction in their incentives. If we visit the companies regarding the matter, we will only be threatened by the security staff”, he added.
He further said, “Hence, we demand the withdrawal of additional vehicles and also an agreement for uniformity in rate plan and if our demands are not fulfilled within a week, then an idefinite strike by the Ola and Uber operators is inevitable.”
Vice-president Munavar Kutthar, general secretary Saadiq Kannur and others were also present on this occasion.
