Pedestrian killed after being hit by speeding bike in Bhatkal; Rider seriously injured

Bhatkal: A pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a speeding bike near Toor Masjid on National Highway 66 in Bhatkal. The accident occurred on Monday morning when the victim was crossing the highway.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim (64), a resident of a flat behind Nishat Nursing Home. Originally from Bangalore, he had been residing in Bhatkal for the past 25 years and had served as a muezzin at Toor Masjid for a long time.

According to local sources, Mohammed Ibrahim was walking home when he was hit by a speeding bike, reportedly ridden by a resident of Nooj in Bhatkal Taluk. The impact caused severe head and hand injuries, following which he was immediately taken to Bhatkal Government Hospital. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was referred to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, doctors in Mangaluru deemed his condition extremely critical, and while being brought back to Bhatkal, he passed away en route. His death was officially confirmed at Bhatkal Government Hospital around 5:30 PM.

The bike rider also sustained serious injuries in the accident and was initially treated at Bhatkal Government Hospital before being shifted to Kundapur Hospital for further medical care.

Mohammed Ibrahim was known for his piety and devotion and was a regular five-time prayer attendee. He is survived by his wife, one son, and one daughter.

The Bhatkal Town Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
