Karwar: Training camp on’ Management of Backyard and Terrace Gardens’, organised for urban people under the Comprehensive Horticulture Development Scheme 2017-18 inaugurated by MLA Satish Sail on Monday. Speaking on the occasion Sail said that to promote chemical-free organic farming, the horticulture department is providing kits to urban people to grow needed vegetables in their terrace gardens. Hence, people should manufacture natural fertilisers from kitchen wastes and other things at their houses,

He opined that day by day, people are losing interest towards dairy farming and horticulture, which is a matter of concern.

Satish Sail also distributed the kits needed for management of terrace and backyard gardens to ten people symbolically.

City Municipal Council President Ganpati Naik also spoke on the occasion. Horticulture Study Centre’s V M Hegade conducted a session to train the participants. Assistant Horticulture Officers Akhshay Kumar Upadhye, Dayanand and others were present.
