Ankola: Hillur Government High School’s Dr Saleem Ali Eco Club, Navachetan Science Centre, Dr C V Raman Science Association and Sushrutha Health Club jointly organised a plastic awareness jatha, under the tagline ‘Say stop to plastic pollution’ on the occasion of World Environment Day in the town on Tuesday.
Students and teachers of high school took out an awareness rally in the major streets of the town and raised slogans asking public to prevent pollution by saying good bye to plastic and using environment-friendly paper bags.
Science teacher Sudheer Nayak demonstrated the causes and effects of using polythene covers, which leads various kinds of pollutions.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Nagaraj Raikar sad, conservation of environment is prime duty of every living being.
Students should create awareness among people of the society regarding protection and conservation of envrionment and explain hem about the negative factors of using polythene.
