Karwar: Plea to improve bus services to rural areas

Wed, 30 May 2018 10:55:08    DHNS

Karwar: Student Prajwal Shet submitted an appeal to MLA Rupali Naik requesting her to take steps to improve bus facility to rural areas.

“The bus sevrvice to rural areas were changed on the pretext of elections. Kindly take steps to solve the problem,” he requested the MLA.

Schedules diverted

“The students from rural areas depend on State road transport buses to commute to the colleges. The schedules of many buses plying to rural areas were changed as they were diverted for election duty. Moreover, services of some of the buses too were curtailed. But, the services were not restored even after the elections were over. As a result, students from rural areas are facing problems in attending colleges,” he said.

The Mallapur-Keravadi bus, which used to depart at 1:30 pm, does not do so even at 3:15 pm. As a result, students are forced to wait for two hours to reach home for lunch. The 5 pm Keravadi-Mallapur bus is also not adhering to the time schedule.

As a result, commuters, including women, are finding it difficult to reach their homes in the evening well on time, and are forced to walk nearly five km through a wooded area.

Hence, immediate action should be taken to solve the problem, Prajwal has requested.
