Karwa: Residents of Khargejug Island, in the taluk, are hopeful about getting a bridge from Khargejug to Katne, across Kali river, as their letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a positive response and Public Works Department (PWD) has been asked to study the necessity of the work.

Siddar-Khargejug bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 16crore was opened last year, but a bridge to Katne was a long-pending demand. The then MLA Satish Sail had recommended this to the State Government.

Now, MLA Roopali Naik is also expected to co-operate for this work, says S R Naik, a resident of the village.

Around 500 metre long bridge to Katne would help thousands of people, while Karwar would be nearer for people of Kaiga area also, he noted. It would come as a boon to them, he added.
