Karwar: The excise police conducted raids on liquor dens in various parts of the City on Sunday and seized the properties, on the charges of violating poll model code of conduct by transporting liquor illegally from Goa.
A team led by Excise Sub-inspector Siddappa Hugar conducted a raid on a house belonging to one Gokuldas Raikar in Nachkinbag in Majali and seized 105 litre Goa feni and 17 litre beer bottles, which worth Rs 23,970.
A team of officials led by Excise Inspector Shobha conducted a raid near Shirwad Railway Station and seized 63 litre MIL bottles and 23 litre Goa feni, which worth Rs 17,000.
Another team led by Excise Inspector P K Shashikala conducted a raid in Gabitwad and recovered 85 litre Goan
liquor worth Rs 16,000 and a bike.
During the inspection, a team of Railway Protection Force led by Deepak Sharma had seized 43 bottles of Goa liquor worth Rs 12,900. Later, it has been handed over to excise officials.
