Prajwal Revanna deserves highest punishment in obscene video case: Congress leader Veerappa Moily

Belagavi: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily has said that suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna deserves the "highest punishment" for his involvement in the obscene video case.
Moily told ANI that crimes against women in the country have risen during the rule of the BJP-led government and women's participation in economic activities is "lowest in the world".

He targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Revanna is the candidate of the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls.
"The most scandalous. We are ashamed of it as politicians...He and whoever connived with him deserve the highest punishment. He (PM Modi) says 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', I think Narendra Modi should put his head down with utmost shame," the Congress leader said.
He said PM Modi and senior JD(S) leader HD Deve Gowda shared the stage with Prajwal Revanna in Mysore. BJP and JD(S) are fighting the Lok Sabha polls as allies.
Moily alleged that crimes against women have risen under the rule of the BJP-led government and women's participation in economic activities is "lowest in the world".

A look-out notice has been issued against MP Prajwal Revanna in connection with the case while he has sought more time to appear for questioning.
"Based on the case, a lookout notice has been issued. Every airport will be alerted. Prajwal Revanna, through his advocate, has sought seven days time. But to extend it beyond 24 hours, we don't have that provision. The SIT has consulted with the legal team too. With that, there are steps taken to arrest him," Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said while speaking to media on Thursday.

Revanna was booked in sexual harassment case on April 28 following complaints by his former housekeeper. The case has been registered under sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation and outraging the dignity of a woman.
As per the complaint, the victim has claimed that Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna had sexually assaulted her. Revanna is the grandson of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

"I came to know that notice has been put; I'm ready to face anything; I'm ready to face SIT," HD Revanna, who is also an accused in the case, said earlier.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Modi, requesting him to direct the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs to cancel the diplomatic passport issued to Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and ensure his return to face the law.
The JD(S) earlier this week suspended Revanna from the party till the investigation is complete following a huge uproar over the matter.
