Mumbai: The government on Friday ordered a detailed inquiry into the plane incident involving Congress president Rahul Gandhi and said appropriate action would be taken in case anything was “found wanting”.
Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said, “As soon as I heard about this issue, I directed the DGCA to conduct a detailed inquiry and to find out the cause of it. If there is anything found wanting and whoever is responsible for it, we will take appropriate action.”
The incident happened during landing of the flight from New Delhi at Hubaalli in north Karnataka on Thursday. Alleging “intentional tampering” with aircraft, the Congress had on Thursday demanded a probe into the “suspicious and faulty performance” of the 10-seater Falcon 2000.
Earlier in the day, a senior official said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has set up a two-member committee to probe the incident.
The police probing the snag are awaiting the arrival of technical experts to examine the problem and submit a report while a senior airport official maintained there was nothing “unusual” in the manner it landed in Hubbali.
On Thursday, a senior DGCA official had confirmed that the aircraft had suffered “technical snag”.
