Bangalore: The biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council by the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be held to fill the seats of members retiring on June 17, 2024.
The term of office for 11 members of the Karnataka Legislative Council, elected by the MLAs, will expire on June 17, 2024. The members retiring are Aravind Kumar Arali, N.S. Boseraju, K. Govindaraj, Dr. Tejaswini Gowda, Muniraju Gowda P.M., K.P. Nanjundi Vishwakarma, B.M. Farooq, Raghunath Rao Malkapure, N. Ravi Kumar, S. Rudregowda, and K. Harish Kumar.
The Election Commission has scheduled the biennial election as follows:
*Issue of Notification: 27th May 2024 (Monday)
*Last Date for Making Nominations: 3rd June 2024 (Monday)
*Scrutiny of Nominations: 4th June 2024 (Tuesday)
* Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidatures: 6th June 2024 (Thursday)
*Date of Poll: 13th June 2024 (Thursday) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
*Counting of Votes: 13th June 2024 (Thursday) at 5:00 pm
*Date Before Which Election Shall be Completed: 15th June 2024 (Saturday)
