Bhatkal: A severely decomposed body of an unidentified person was discovered in a forested area near Dongar Palli on Bhatkal Bundar Road on Tuesday evening, which initially appears to be a case of suicide.
The body was first spotted by a goat herder who was grazing his goats in the area. While breaking a tree branch, he noticed a rope hanging from a nearby tree. Upon closer inspection, he found a heavily decomposed body on the ground beneath the rope, with only the skull remaining intact. Shocked by the discovery, he quickly informed nearby residents, which led to a large crowd gathering at the scene.
On the Bhatkal Bundar Road, vehicles generally speed past. On the right side of the road is the hill of Maqdoom colony, while the Dongar Palli area begins after turning left. SahilOnline correspondent saw that a rope was hanging about 10 feet above from a tree branch, with a skull lying on the ground below. The body had decayed to such an extent that identification was not possible. Nearby, there was a sandal, indicating that the deceased was likely a male. However, no other identifying marks were found on the body.
After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, and after necessary procedures, the body was shifted to Bhatkal Government Hospital for post-mortem. The investigation is ongoing.
