Bhatkal: Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Cause Damage to Houses and Vehicles

Bhatkal: The region of Bhatkal has been experiencing heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds for the past several days, resulting in damage to a few houses and vehicles due to falling trees.

One of the incidents occurred when a tree fell on the house belonging to Gauri Durgappa Naik, causing significant damage. Another house, owned by Manjunath Venkatappa Naik, was also affected. In response to these incidents, revenue officials visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.

Moreover, the continuous rainfall has led to overflowing rivers, ditches, and banks, creating a potential risk for the surrounding areas. Rural areas have also been impacted, with paddy fields getting flooded, and farmers expressing concerns about the possibility of blight disease affecting nut trees.

Over the last 24 hours leading up to 8 am on July 22nd, the region received a total of 36.8mm of rainfall. Since the beginning of the rainy season, the cumulative rainfall has reached 2095.6 mm.

Unresolved Ranginkatte Problem: The Ranginkatte locality is facing an ongoing problem that has yet to be resolved. Despite visits from district in-charge ministers, Deputy Commissioners, various district-level officials, and engineers, a solution to the issue remains elusive. The problem primarily involves the accumulation of water on approximately 500 meters of the highway in Ranginkatte during even light rainfall. This waterlogging is causing difficulties for vehicular movement in the area.

Curiously, this issue has persisted for the past four years without resolution. Even though the same road is used by people's representatives and officials, it seems that the problem has not been given the necessary attention.
