Bhatkal: During the holiday on Sunday, a tourist who arrived in Murdeshwar from Bangalore was rescued by lifeguard personnel while drowning in the Arabian Sea. The incident occurred on Sunday morning.

The rescued youth has been identified as Puneet K. (19).

It has been reported that Puneet arrived in Murdeshwar with four of his friends from Bangalore and went swimming in the sea in the morning. When he got caught in the high waves, lifeguard personnel quickly launched a rescue operation and pulled him out, saving him from drowning.

Sources indicate that during this incident, lifeguards Shekhar Devadiga, Giri Harikant, and Lohit Harikant were involved. Local fishermen, especially Gundo Harikant and Santosh Harikant, also supported them in successfully saving Puneet using boats.

It is noteworthy that the coastal Karnataka region has experienced heavy rainfall over the past four to five days, and the meteorological department has forecasted continued rain for the next seven days. During rainy weather, the sea waves can be quite turbulent, and entering the sea under such conditions is akin to inviting death. Lifeguard personnel continually advise people not to enter the sea during these times and to avoid putting their lives at risk.
