Bhatkal: Safety Measures Enforced: Tourist Entry Restricted in Murdeshwar Due to High Waves and Cyclone Threat

Bhatkal: The taluka administration has implemented a prohibition on tourist entry into the Arabian Sea at Murdeshwar prior to the arrival of Cyclone Biparjoy along the Gujarat coast. The ban aims to ensure the safety of tourists by preventing them from entering the sea, considering the presence of high waves.

Murdeshwar attracts hundreds of tourists daily, who often visit the beach to enjoy playing with the waves and swimming in the sea. Unfortunately, cases of drowning have been reported among tourists, particularly during the rainy season. These incidents have been on the rise. Despite warnings advising against entering the rough sea with high waves during the rainy season, tourists have disregarded these precautions.

It is worth noting that, within the past three days, two tourists have tragically lost their lives due to drowning in the Arabian Sea caused by Cyclone Biparjoy. Additionally, over the last month, more than 25 drowning incidents have occurred, but prompt rescues were made prior to the onset of the rainy season.

To enhance tourist safety, the Coast Guards have been stationed at the beach to inform visitors about the potential dangers and prohibit them from engaging with the powerful waves. Posters have also been displayed to alert tourists about the risks of drowning. Local fishermen and police officials are actively involved in discouraging tourists from entering the sea. However, despite these efforts, tourists remain enticed by the allure of the imposing waves and often disregard the advice, leading to fatal accidents.

Given the prevailing circumstances, the Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner has taken measures to address the issue. Barricades have been erected, and access to the beach has been restricted. No one is permitted to enter the sea until the end of August or the conclusion of the rainy season. Strict action will be taken against individuals who violate this order.
