Bhatkal: Strongly opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill, members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) from Bhatkal held a protest demonstration outside the Circuit House along the National Highway. The protesters harshly criticized the central government, accusing it of introducing the Waqf Amendment Bill with the intention of seizing Waqf properties.
During the protest, SDPI Vice President Waseem Manegar led the agitators in raising various slogans against the Modi government, such as "Phir se banega Shaheen Bagh; kategi Modi Shah ki naak," "Modi Shah tu ho barbaad; Narendra Modi Murdabad," "Shariyat me tumhari mudakhilat ko SDPI nahi degi ijazat," and "Waqf pe hamla band karo; bill phado aur dafan karo." The protesters also warned of larger demonstrations if the Waqf Amendment Bill is not withdrawn, with slogans like "Tum lathi maro, goli maro; case laga kar jail me dalo," "Modi Shah ka jo hai irada; nahi chalega ab ziyada," and "Rapiston ki hai ye sarkar; nahi chalegi ab ki baar." The protest included other strong messages aimed at the central government.
Addressing the crowd, SDPI Uttara Kannada District President Taufeeque Beary stated that the country is currently grappling with serious issues such as rape, looting, riots, and unemployment. However, instead of focusing on these problems, the Modi government is pushing the Waqf Amendment Bill to distract the public and create divisions between Hindus and Muslims. He questioned whether the RSS and BJP have run out of land for temple construction, which is why they have set their sights on Waqf properties. Beary warned the central government that if they interfere with Waqf properties dedicated in the name of Allah, the very existence of the RSS and BJP will be wiped out by divine intervention.
He also urged Muslim leaders not to remain passive by merely relying on emails, but to actively take to the streets to protest for their rights, as the constitution allows them to do.
In conclusion, the protesters marched in a rally to the Mini Vidhana Soudha (Taluka Administration Building), where they submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee through the Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner.
Uttara Kannada District Secretary Zain, Bhatkal Circle President Maqbool Shaikh, and several other party workers were present at the protest.
