Udupi: The Karnataka Police have successfully apprehended the suspect, Praveen Arun Chogle (35), accused of killing four members of the same family in Udupi on Sunday morning. The arrest took place in Kudachi, Rayabhaga taluk, Belagavi district. Praveen Arun Chogle, a resident of Sangli in Maharashtra, was identified as the prime suspect in the brutal murders.

Utilizing CCTV footage, Udupi police tracked down the suspect to a location in a neighboring district and promptly took him into custody. Collaborating with Belagavi police, who were informed of the suspect's presence in a specific house, the joint operation led to the successful arrest of Arun Chowgale. The Udupi police team, present at the scene in Kudachi, received confirmation of the arrest and conveyed that the suspect, attempting to leave Belgaum, is now in custody.

Sources reveal that Praveen is employed by an airline, where Aynaz, a member of the murdered family, also works as an air hostess. It is suspected that Praveen's relationship with Aynaz had soured, leading to his alleged plan to murder all the family members in anger.

Recalling the incident, a person entered a house in Tripathi Nagar under Malpe police station limit of Udupi district around 8:30 am on Sunday morning, brutally murdering Haseena (46), her two daughters Afnan (23), Aynaz (21), and son Aseem (12). The shocking incident garnered attention not only in coastal Karnataka but throughout the state.

The accused reportedly escaped within 10 to 15 minutes after stabbing to death four people and injuring the mother-in-law of Haseena. Police tracked him through the mobile network, leading to his arrest in Belagavi on Tuesday afternoon. Despite his apparent attempt to flee to Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh from Raibagh, the police apprehended him with due diligence. The accused is reported to be transported to Udupi.
