Udupi: The Bangalore CCB Police have intensified their investigation into Chaitra Kundapur, who is presently in police custody on charges of defrauding industrialist Govinda Babu Poojary of crores of rupees by allegedly promising him a BJP ticket for the last Assembly elections.
It has been reported that the CCB team is stationed in Udupi, actively conducting investigations at various levels. In a recent development, it has come to light that Chaitra acquired land near Hiriyadka in the name of her friend Srikanth Naik, who is also under arrest. This land purchase occurred approximately a year ago, and construction of a two-story house had commenced. However, work came to a standstill following Srikanth's apprehension. It has been disclosed that Chaitra was supervising the construction of the two-story house on a plot measuring 20 to 25 cents.
According to sources, a CCB police team visited a Cooperative Society in Uppari on Saturday to gather information pertaining to money transfers and deposits linked to this case. Furthermore, operations have been carried out at various locations within Byndur, Kundapur, and Udupi taluks.
There is a suspicion that Chaitra may have deposited a significant amount of cash, title deeds, and gold ornaments in the name of Shrikant Naik in the aforementioned bank. Ongoing investigations by the CCB police aim to uncover further details in this regard.
