Karwar: Centenarian Hussainabi Budan Saab Siddi from the Sambrani village in Haliyal, renowned for her dedication to training children in the traditional Damami dance of the Siddis, was recently bestowed with the prestigious State-level Rajyotsava Award in Karwar.
Despite being 103 years old, this extraordinary dancer has not only preserved the folk art but also passed down its essence to the younger members of the community.
In addition to her mastery of the traditional Damami dance, Hussainabi has garnered acclaim as a renowned 'Siddinasa' singer, enchanting audiences with her melodious renditions at Siddi Muslim weddings.
Expressing her joy at receiving the Rajyotsava award, Hussainabi humbly remarked, “I am delighted to receive this honor.”
