Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress workers and KPCC General Secretary S Manohar have filed a complaint against former Union Minister and BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde at the High Ground Police Station on Sunday. The coCongress-Manoharmplaint follows Hegde's controversial statement asserting that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi faced consequences due to a curse related to cow slaughter.

Manohar told ANI, "Anant Kumar Hegde has made derogatory remarks about Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, insulting the entire populace. We have protested against him, and considering his threat to law and order by advocating the demolition of mosques, we urge immediate police intervention with a case registered, leading to his arrest."

During a program in Kumta, Hegde claimed that a significant agitation against cow slaughter occurred during Indira Gandhi's tenure as the Prime Minister. He alleged that the revered ascetic Karpatri Maharaj cursed Indira Gandhi, predicting the demise of her family on "Gopasthami day." Hegde linked Sanjay Gandhi's plane crash and Indira Gandhi's assassination to this curse.

Siddaramaiah, Karnataka CM, criticized Hegde's controversial remarks, stating, "The language used by Anantakumar Hegde reflects his cultural background for political gains. Considering Hegde's past statement about changing the Constitution when he was a central minister, expecting a better cultural approach from him seems unlikely."
