Bhatkal: Cyclone Biparjoy has been intensifying in the Arabian Sea over the past three to four days, prompting authorities to issue warnings against approaching the sea during the cyclone. Tourists are advised to observe the sea from non-oceanic areas. Despite these precautions, a tragic incident occurred on Monday in Murdeshwar, where one tourist was swept away by the high waves of the Arabian Sea. Thankfully, two other tourists were successfully rescued by lifeguards.

A group of 22 tourists from Kalghatgi in Dharwad district had arrived in Murdeshwar on Monday morning. While measures had been implemented to deter tourists from entering the sea, including the placement of warning signs, some individuals disregarded the safety measures and ventured into the water. Three people found themselves in distress due to the powerful waves. Lifeguards promptly responded to the situation and managed to save two of the tourists. Unfortunately, one tourist, identified as Satish Huligunde (19), drowned and is currently missing.

Efforts to locate the missing tourist are ongoing. The rescued individuals have been identified as Hasan Majgi Gowda (21) and Sanjeev Heballi (20). It is worth noting that the group of 22 tourists from Kalghatgi had traveled to Murdeshwar via the tourist destinations of Sigandur and Kollur.
