Bhatkal: The foremost and most pressing issue confronting the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Constituency is forest encroachment. With vast expanses of forested areas surrounding most regions, a significant portion of the populace is compelled to inhabit encroached forest lands. Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, the Congress candidate for the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, articulated these concerns. Speaking to Sahil Online, she underscored that approximately 1.25 lakh applications from affected individuals remain pending, necessitating urgent resolution. Dr. Nimbalkar pledged to address this issue promptly, vowing to raise it in the inaugural session of Parliament should she secure the electorate's mandate.

Highlighting the absence of a super specialty hospital within the district, Dr. Nimbalkar emphasized the critical need to establish one in Kumta. She noted the inconvenience faced by residents who must seek medical attention in distant locales such as Goa, Hubli, Udupi, Manipal, and Mangalore during emergencies. Citing Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's commitment to erecting a super specialty hospital in Kumta, Dr. Nimbalkar expressed optimism that its central location within the district would extend its benefits to the entire populace.

Addressing additional concerns within the district, particularly the ongoing Kaiga and Seabird projects, Dr. Nimbalkar stressed the importance of local employment opportunities. She prioritized the completion of the National Highway, citing frequent road accidents and resultant loss of lives due to its unfinished state. Following extensive consultations and surveys across various regions, Dr. Nimbalkar identified approximately ten pressing issues, pledging to expedite their resolution.

Furthermore, Dr. Nimbalkar underscored the significance of promoting tourism in Uttara Kannada. Given the proximity to the internationally renowned beaches of Goa, she advocated for the development of tourism infrastructure to bolster employment prospects for local residents. Proposing the enhancement of Uttara Kannada's beaches to national and international standards, Dr. Nimbalkar envisioned concerted efforts to attract tourists to the region.

It is noteworthy that the elections in the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency are scheduled for May 7th.
