Udupi: A tragic collision between a bus and a jeep at Manjaparlke in Nitte village near Karkala resulted in the untimely death of a 48-year-old man on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Shivappa (48) from Chikkamagaluru, lost his life on the spot, while two others, Manju (45) and Sujaya (28), sustained severe injuries.

The unfortunate incident occurred as the bus, en route from Mumbai to Karkala, collided with a jeep traveling from Nandalike. The occupants of the jeep were on their way to attend a religious ceremony in Nandalike for their relatives. Shivappa, accompanied by two others from Jayapura in Chikkamagaluru, had led the religious rituals in Nandalike before the tragic accident.

Among the passengers on the bus, approximately 12 people suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Karkala.
