Bengaluru: A firecracker shop near Attibele in Bengaluru witnessed a devastating fire, resulting in at least 14 fatalities and leaving numerous individuals with severe burn injuries.

According to sources, the tragic incident occurred during the process of transferring firecrackers from a goods vehicle to the shop on Saturday . The exact cause of the mishap is still under investigation by the police.

Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, promptly visited the site to assess the situation and understand the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

Following the devastating event, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the fire accident site, stressing the criticality of implementing safety measures to avert such tragic incidents. He also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased.

Expressing his concern and determination to take necessary actions, Siddaramaiah said, "A tragic incident in Bengaluru has claimed the lives of 14 people. I do not have the detailed information right now. We need to investigate whether the shop had the necessary licenses and safety precautions in place. A thorough investigation will be done and appropriate actions will be taken against the shop owner. This devastating event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future."
