Kundapur: Ports and Fisheries Department Minister Mankal Vaidya visited the Gangolli boat fire disaster site on Monday afternoon and assured the affected fishermen that the government would make all efforts to provide them with the maximum compensation possible.

Speaking to the media, Minister Vaidya said that the department and the government would stand by the fishermen during this difficult time and provide them with all necessary assistance. He also emphasized that the government would ensure that the fishermen are compensated fairly for their losses.

"I am deeply saddened by the incident and understand the plight of the fishermen. I have already discussed the incident with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the state. The state government will do everything possible to provide additional compensation to the affected fishermen," Minister Vaidya said.

Minister Vgangolli-fire.jpegaidya also informed that a separate investigation is being conducted by the police and the fisheries department into the incident. He added that the department or the insurance company would consider constructing a pump house in the port area to prevent future accidents.

The minister also stressed the need for the Department of Fisheries and Ports to oversee the port area, as the Panchayat has no income from it. He said that if the Panchayat is collecting funds from the port area, it should be held responsible for its maintenance and safety. Minister Vaidya stated that corrective actions would be taken to address this issue in the coming days.

During his visit, Minister Vaidya met with department officials and local fishermen leaders to discuss the incident and the steps that need to be taken to help the affected fishermen.
