Dubai: The Gulf Karnatakotsava, an event dedicated to honoring the outstanding contributions of Karnataka-origin business icons in the Gulf region, concluded on a grand note on 10 September 2023.

This occasion marked a significant milestone as it paid tribute to a total of 21 exemplary Most Influential Business individuals, recognized as 'Gulf Karnataka Ratna'. They received their honors from the esteemed Chief Guest, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum, a Member of the Royal Family of Dubai and the Chairman of MBM Group. The heart of this momentous event was a coffee table book launch, capturing their achievements and dedication to both the Gulf nations and their home state of Karnataka.

Among the notable awardees was Dr. S M Syed Khaleelur Rahman, Founder Chairman of K&K Enterprises, a native of Bhatkal, Karnataka. In 2003, he was bestowed with the Karnataka Rajya Utsava Award by the Government of Karnataka in recognition of his noteworthy contributions. Dr. S M Syed Khalilur Rahman is associated with the renowned educational institution, Anjuman Hami- e-Muslimeen, located in Bhatkal, Karnataka. He is also actively involved in various social organizations such as Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, alongside several other educational and social organizations.

Dr. Thumbay Moideen was also honored with the 'Gulf Karnataka Ratna 2023' award for his significant contributions in the Medical Education and Healthcare sector of UAE. He holds the distinction of being the only businessman from Karnataka to own a private medical University outside of India, leading in healthcare and medical education in UAE.
