Bengaluru: 337 candidates have submitted their nominations for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, according to the State Election Commission. The deadline for nominations was April 19, with polling scheduled for May 7. Of these candidates, 309 are men and 28 are women.
On the final day, 151 candidates filed their nominations, with 132 men and 19 women among them. The State Election Commission received 230 nominations from Independent candidates, totaling 503 nominations by 337 candidates for the Lok Sabha seats.
It's important to note that if a candidate files more than one nomination, it's counted as one. Karnataka has a total of 28 Lok Sabha seats. Earlier, on April 4, 358 candidates had filed nominations for the same seats, with 333 men and 25 women candidates. On that day, 183 candidates, including 171 men and 12 women, submitted their nominations.
