New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's Chief Minister, secured a vote of confidence from his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Assembly on Saturday. This vote of confidence came amidst a backdrop of legal challenges, including a court summons issued to Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding an alleged scam in the city's liquor excise policy.

Kejriwal, who faced the court summons, participated in the hearing virtually, citing the trust vote as the reason for his physical absence.

This is the second instance in which Kejriwal's government has sought and won a trust vote in the 70-member Assembly, where the AAP holds 62 seats, while the BJP holds eight.

In a statement on Friday, Kejriwal alleged that two AAP MLAs were offered ₹25 crore each by the BJP to switch sides, purportedly to prevent his arrest and the overthrow of his government.

The ED had accused Kejriwal of intentional non-compliance and criticized his "lame excuses," warning that such behavior could set a wrong precedent. Kejriwal, on the other hand, deemed the summonses illegal and politically motivated, suggesting they were aimed at disrupting his election campaigning.
