Bhatkal Honnavar Assembly Constituency has 2.19 lakh voters: AC Mamata Devi

Bhatkal: Assistant Commissioner Mamata Devi said, 2,19,876 voters have registered their names in the electoral rolls in the Bhatkal-Honnavar Assembly Constituency. 

Speaking to media, she said, there are 2,19,876  voters, 1,11,740 are male, 1,08,135 are female, and 1 voter are other. There are 2,772 persons with disabilities. A total of 248 polling booths would be set up in the Constituency. Out of these 14 have been identified as weak and 64 sensitive polling stations. All basic facilities for voters would be provided, she added.

Those above 80 years and are bedridden can submit 12D applications for postal ballot at their own households. They should give those where booth-level/sector level officers who will visit their homes. Teams comprising officials have been formed to prevent electoral malpractices. There are 25 sector officers, three flying squads, three static surveillance teams, one video surveillance, one video viewing teams, assistant expenditure observers, and accounting teams.

Furnishing details about mustering and de-mustering Centre will be at Shree Guru Sudhindra College, Bhatkal and the counting of votes will be held on May 13 at Dr. AV Baliga College, Kumta, she said.

She futher said,  the Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the app for free and fair conduct of elections. If people find any kind of electoral malpractice, they can take a photo or record it on their phone, and send it via the app for suitable action.

The Assistant commissioner asked the people to make use of digital cash transactions and avoid carrying huge cash. Any cash exceeding Rs 50,000 without documents will be seized. A total of 4 check-posts will be set up in and around the Bhatkal-Honnavar Constituency to check the transportation of liquor or any other materials to lure voters illegally.

Election schedule:
She informed that notification for the election would be issued on April 13, and the last date to file nomination papers would be April 20. Scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on April 21. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers would be April 24. Polling would be held on May 10 and the counting of votes would be held on May 13. The election process would end on May 15.
