Kota: Fourteen children were electrocuted and sustained burn injuries on Friday morning while participating in the 'Shiv Barat' procession in Kota, marking Mahashivratri. The unfortunate incident took place in the Sakatoura area, within the Kunhari police station's jurisdiction, when a child carrying a 20-22 ft pipe came into contact with an overhead high-tension power line, leading to the electrocution of all children present.

Kota SP Amrita Duhan explained that the children, along with others from Kaali Basti, were part of the procession when the incident occurred. Two children suffered severe injuries, with one child sustaining 100% burn injuries and another 50%, while the other twelve incurred injuries of less than 50%. The victims were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

SP Duhan emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that except for one individual who is 25 years old, all other victims are below the age of 14. She assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine if there was any negligence involved. "The priority is to give them proper treatment," Duhan stated, highlighting the grave condition of the most seriously injured.

Rajasthan Minister Heeralal Nagar reacted to the distressing event, describing it as "a very sad incident" and informing that a special team has been formed to ensure the children receive all possible medical treatment. Nagar also mentioned that an investigation has been ordered to ascertain any negligence that may have contributed to the accident.
