Thiruvananthapuram: The left-front government in Kerala has rejected a directive from the Centre proposing the use of photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the establishment of selfie points at ration shops. 

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan denounced the directive as a politically motivated move by the BJP-led central government to gain electoral advantage. Vijayan declared during a session in the Assembly that Kerala would not comply with the directive and would formally convey its dissent to the Centre. He also revealed plans to escalate the matter to the Election Commission, emphasizing Kerala's stance against such directives.

This rejection isn't the first instance of Kerala defying the Centre's directives. Previously, the state refused to display the PMAY logo on houses built under the LIFE Mission scheme.

Apart from the proposal to display PM Modi's photos and set up selfie points, the Centre also proposed distributing bags adorned with its logo to promote awareness of its free ration schemes. However, Kerala remains steadfast in its refusal to implement these measures, citing political motivations behind the directives.
