Mundgod: Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy unveiled a freshly built bus depot along Hubballi Road in Mundgod, worth Rs 4 crore, on Monday.

Addressing the attendees, Reddy emphasized the depot's significance for students and rural communities, announcing forthcoming funds for depot concretization and the addition of new buses.

Reddy noted that the Shakti Yojana's implementation had notably heightened demand, with daily passenger numbers escalating from 84 lakh to 1.10 crore across the state's four transport corporations. In response, 5,900 new buses have been acquired to meet this surge.

MLA Shivaram Hebbar highlighted the collaborative efforts between the six depots in Uttara Kannada to enhance bus services in Mundgod taluk, reducing previous inconveniences stemming from selective route operations.

Former MLA V S Patil and KDCC Bank Director L T Patil also addressed the gathering, alongside Congress district president Sai Gaonkar and other party members.
