Sirsi: A student, identified as Ram Kumar Madhukeshwar Naik Maduravalli, drowned and lost his life while swimming in Kanakapura Lake in Hadligi village, Banavasi, Sirsi taluk, Uttara Kannada district. Ram Kumar, a student from Nagashree High School, was playing in the water with four friends when the unfortunate incident occurred.

It appears that Ram Kumar accidentally drowned in the lake. Upon receiving information, a team of policemen, led by PSI Chandrakala Pattara, from Banavasi police station, rushed to the spot. The firefighting team, led by Gopal Gowda, along with local villagers, including the Sri Marikamba Life Guard Team Sirsi, conducted an operation to retrieve the body of the deceased student.

The Banavasi police station has registered a case in connection with the incident.
