WhatsApp Scam: Mangaluru Resident Falls Victim to Rs 10.5 Lakh Scam

Mangaluru: A case has been reported in Mangaluru where an person claimed to have lost a substantial sum of Rs 10.5 lakh after responding to a WhatsApp message received on July 23.

The alleged perpetrator posed as a representative of a company and lured the victim with the promise of earning 30% returns on deposits, along with the opportunity to engage in part-time tasks on a daily basis. The victim was subsequently added to a group named "Social Wavelength Digital Marketing" on the Telegram messaging app, and over time, they transferred the aforementioned sum of Rs 10.5 lakh in multiple installments.

However, when the company failed to fulfill its commitments, including returning the deposited money and providing the promised returns, the victim decided to seek assistance from law enforcement authorities. 

A case has been registered at  Mangaluru East Police Station.
