Mangaluru: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Mangalore Branch witnessed the installation of its new office bearers for the year 2023-24, with Dr. Ranjan RK, Professor in Anaesthesiology at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangaluru, assuming the role of President.

The ceremony, held at the IMA Hall in Mangalore, featured Chief Guest Sri. Anupam Agarwal, Mangalore City Police Commissioner, who emphasized the noble nature of the medical profession. He commended the doctors for their relentless service to humanity, especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Commissioner Agarwal underscored the unique and cordial relationship between doctors and patients, urging medical professionals to uphold patient expectations.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Chairman of the Kanachur Health Sciences Advisory Council, served as the installation officer. In his address, he discussed the evolving landscape of the medical field and healthcare delivery systems. Prof. Ismail encouraged doctors to leverage advanced technology for cost-effective healthcare solutions that are accessible and affordable. He conveyed his best wishes to the newly appointed office bearers for their future endeavors.

In his acceptance speech, newly appointed President Dr. Ranjan RK pledged to continue the legacy set by his predecessor, Prof. Dr. Venugopal. He sought the cooperation of all members to successfully implement academic sessions, medical workshops, and healthcare and welfare projects planned for the upcoming year.

Outgoing President Prof. Dr. Venugopal presented a brief report on the achievements during his tenure, while outgoing Secretary Dr. Archith Bolar and Treasurer Dr. Nandakishore shared the annual reports and financial accounts, respectively. Dr. Prashantha B, the newly elected Treasurer, was also introduced.

The outgoing office bearers include Dr. Venugopala D as President, Dr. Archith Boloor as Secretary, and Dr. Nandakishore B as Treasurer.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by newly elected Secretary Dr. Avin Alva, and Dr. Ms. Adyashree served as the program's emcee. The event also saw the release of the IMA monthly news bulletin, "Medilore."
