Ranchi: In the 81-member House, the ruling alliance secured 47 votes, including that of a nominated member. On the other hand, the opposition NDA alliance managed to gather only 29 votes.

The necessity for the floor test arose as the new government, headed by Champai Soren, was sworn in just months before the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

Champai Soren, aged 67, took over from Hemant Soren, who had to resign due to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering land scam case. Despite being in five-day custody, the JMM executive president was granted permission to attend the floor test proceedings.

Addressing the assembly, Soren accused Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan of involvement in his arrest. He stated, “On the night of January 31, for the first time in the country, a CM was arrested...and I believe that Raj Bhavan was also involved in this incident.”

Expressing concerns about the safety of tribals and Dalits under the current regime, Soren declared, “I will come back with more strength. Opposition's conspiracy will be thwarted.”

During the floor test debate, Soren accused the BJP of utilizing central agencies to frame his predecessor. He remarked, “BJP tried to destabilize a democratically elected Jharkhand government.”

Amidst the victory of the Champai Soren government in the floor test, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asserted, "There was no doubt. We were saying beforehand that we would win this Trust Vote with a good majority. 47 MLAs were in support. 'Operation Keechad' has failed."
