Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that government officials should refrain from intervening in political and religious matters. Speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Karnataka Administration Services Association in Bangalore, he underlined that the Constitution upholds secularism and requires government servants, including IAS officers, to set aside their religious affiliations while executing their duties. Siddaramaiah stressed that religion and government remain separate entities.

He called on officials to work within the framework of the Constitution and protect its principles, reminding them that safeguarding the Constitution ultimately ensures the well-being of everyone. Siddaramaiah, a staunch advocate of a secular society, urged educated government employees to exemplify rational behavior, eschewing caste and religious divisions for societal progress.

Siddaramaiah's plea to officials to serve the public and eschew activities against people and farmers aligns with his government's welfare initiatives. The Chief Minister's directive also mirrors his administration's commitment to cleansing the bureaucracy, which has been criticized for political bias.
