According to sources, the incident came to light around six o'clock on Monday when the children had not returned home in the afternoon.

Both children were fifth-grade students at Cheemeni Government Higher Secondary School. They had left home to play outside with their bicycles. When they did not return home later that evening, their parents began searching for them, with neighbors soon joining the search.

During the search, their bicycles were found near the quarry, and the bodies of the children were discovered in the pond nearby.

Although they were rushed to a private hospital immediately, their lives could not be saved. The bodies were later shifted to Government Medical College in Kannur for post-mortem.
