Kumta: The Kumta police have successfully apprehended four persons including a woman and her lover, in connection with a murder case that involved an unknown body discovered in Kumta on September 30.
According to police sources, the murder revolves around the woman's extramarital relationship with her lover, where her husband served as a hindrance. This conflict led the woman to orchestrate her husband's murder, involving her lover and two additional accomplices.
The unidentified body, aged between 35 to 40 years old, was found behind a temple in the Devimane Ghat area within Kumta taluk on September 30.
Upon receiving this information, a police team headed by Uttara Kannada SP Vishnu Vardhan and Bhatkal Sub-division DySp Shrikanth swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. Initial findings strongly indicated foul play, prompting further inquiry. A KSRTC bus ticket discovered in the victim's pocket revealed he hailed from Hosur in Badami Taluk of Bagalkot district, helping identify the deceased as Basheer Saab Sangkanoor.
Subsequent police investigations uncovered a troubled history of frequent disputes between Basheer and his wife. Upon interrogating Rajamma, the wife of the deceased Basheer, evidence pointed to her involvement in the murder. The police determined that she had instructed her lover, Parshuram, to plan the murder and provided ten thousand rupees as supari. Parshuram, along with Ravi and Baswaraj, carried out the act in Kumta. The Kumta police promptly arrested the four accused and presented them before the court, subsequently remanding them to judicial custody.
