Udupi: Four persons suspected of trafficking ganja were arrested by the Manipal police near Shimbra bridge in Shivalli on Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as Abdul Latheef (32) from Sasthan, Mustaf Hanja Byali (35) from Koteshwara, Mohammed Ashpak (21) from Sasthan, and Shakilesh (25) from Uppur.

Following a tip-off, law enforcement authorities carried out a raid, resulting in the confiscation of 274 grams of ganja, a car valued at Rs 5 lakh, Rs 19,130 in cash, and five mobile phones with a combined worth of Rs 20,000. It is alleged that the arrested individuals were specifically targeting students.

A case has been registered under sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act.
