Mangaluru: MLC Manjunath Bhandary lauded the recent accomplishments of the Congress government, citing their efficient execution of several pledges outlined in their manifesto for the Malenadu and Coastal areas within the initial 100 days of assuming power. Bhandary underscored the administration's unwavering dedication to fulfilling all the outlined commitments, emphasizing that tangible steps are being taken to bolster public welfare. He further noted that the opposition persistently criticizes the government's people-centric initiatives.

During a press conference held at Congress Bhavan on Tuesday, Bhandary shed light on the role of Home Minister Parameshwar in crafting the manifesto. He emphasized that the manifesto was meticulously formulated following extensive district-level consultations and engagements with the local populace. Outlining ten specific assurances for coastal Karnataka, Bhandary juxtaposed this against the previous government's establishment of the Narayana Guru Development Corporation, which, according to him, failed to allocate any funds for its operations. He assured that the current government is slated to allocate funds for the corporation in the upcoming budget.

Bhandary highlighted several notable milestones achieved by the Congress government, such as the substantial elevation of interest-free loans for fisherwomen to three lakhs, an increase in diesel subsidies, and the establishment of the Bunt Development Corporation. Expounding on the corporation's objectives, he elucidated its role in conducting research on the Bunt community's cultural heritage, providing financial assistance to students, and extending medical aid and shelter to the underprivileged.

MLA Ashok Rai, MLC Harish Kumar, and other prominent leaders were present.
