Bhatkal: Majlis e Islah wa Tanzeem (MIT), the renowned Muslim-based social organization in Bhatkal, has announced a large-scale campaign to register eligible voters and issue voter ID cards ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. A voter ID mega camp is scheduled to take place simultaneously at four different locations across the city on March 30 and 31 (Saturday and Sunday).
In collaboration with the Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation and various sports centers, the mega camp will be set up at Syedina Ibrahim Masjid in Tengangundi, Khush-hal Shadi Hall in Nawayat Colony, Al-Afarah Shadi Hall in Bundar Road, and Tanzeem Hall in Siddique Street to ensure coverage across Bhatkal, including Jali Pattan Panchayat and Heble limits.
The voter ID mega camp will operate from 10 am to 4 pm.
Notably, individuals who turn 18 years old before March 31, 2024, can submit advance applications to be included in the electoral list. Moreover, individuals whose details are uploaded onto the voter list but have not received their voter ID cards can still cast their votes by presenting any of the 12 government-certified identity proofs listed on the election commission website.
Applicants aiming to register on the voter list are required to bring original and xerox copies of three documents – identity proof, address proof, and age proof – along with a recent passport-size photograph to the camp.
The General Secretary of MIT, Abdul Raqib MJ Nadvi, has urged residents of Bhatkal and neighboring areas, such as Murdeshwar, Manki, Valki, Gersuppa, Honnavar, etc., to utilize this opportunity. He emphasized that those above 18 years old without voter ID cards should participate in the camp to apply for IDs and exercise their voting rights in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Azeezur Rahman Ruknuddin Nadvi, President of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation, called upon members of all sports centers to ensure that residents in their respective areas possess voter ID cards and are listed in the electoral roll. He stressed the goal of achieving a high voter turnout in the upcoming elections.
