Bengaluru: Senior advocates of Bengaluru High Court, Advocate P. Usman and Advocate Mohammed Niyaz, have been re-elected as President and Secretary respectively of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) Karnataka chapter, along with social activist Mr. Tajuddin Shareef from Tumkur as Joint Secretary.
Advocate Abdus Salam as Treasurer, RTI activist Shaikh Shafi Ahmed as RTI Co-ordinator and Journalist Inayatullah Gawai as Media Co-ordinator were also named in the office bearers team.
Advocate Mahmood Qazi, Ms. Sumayya Roshan, Ms. Nasreen Taj and Hussain Kodi Bengre have been included in the new executive committee formed for the term 2023 to 2027 in the state APCR for which the meeting was held on Sunday, at Indian Agricultural Institute hall in Bangalore.
Advocate Mohammad Niyaz welcomed the APCR Presidents of different district of Karnataka, before disolving the body. Advocate P. Usman, while presenting the opening remarks, highlighted the current situation in the state and urged the activist of APCR to take immediate action whenever any incident happens in thier respective districts, expressing the concern over the violation of human rights and deteriorating conditions through hate speech. He urged activist that they should take legal action without waiting any direction from anywhere. He also stressed to be active and work accordingly. "It is the responsibility of the APCR activist of the concerned district to take action without waiting for instructions", he added.
Advocate Abdus Salam hosted the meeting, APCR Mentor Maulana Mohammed Yusuf Kanni presided over the election process, while Shaikh Shafi Ahmed delivered vote of thanks.
