Bhatkal: New Shams School, a renowned English medium school in Bhatkal, organized a unique program to mark World Environment Day on June 5. The program was attended by students, teachers, staff, and members of the community.
As part of the program, trees were planted in the school campus to raise awareness among the students. An environmentalist visited the school as a chief guest to educate the students. Additionally, a team of students visited five major mosques in the vicinity of the school to raise awareness about World Environment Day among the worshipers.
The students emphasized the importance of planting trees and protecting the environment to combat pollution. Around 60 individuals received various plants and were encouraged to plant them in their own homes.
On this occasion, Shams School arranged visits to government offices, including the Bhatkal Block Education Office, Town Police Station, and Assistant Commissioner's Office. The students presented ornamental plants as gifts to the officers.
The program began with a tree planting ceremony in the school campus. The chief guest of the ceremony was Abdul Wahid Khatib, an environmentalist. He spoke about the importance of trees and how they can help to improve the environment. He highlighted the significance of human attention and care for the environment. He emphasized that trees play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance and creating a healthier learning environment. Khatib advised the students to focus on planting more trees and develop an appreciation for them.
M.R. Manvi, a school teacher who played a leading role in organizing the program, and School Principal Liaquat Ali also addressed the gathering. School Founder and Director Dr. Khawaja Owais Ruknuddin, Vice President Syed Qutb Barmawar Nadvi, Secretary Anam Ala MT, along with other teachers, including Subhan Nadvi, Abdullah Khalifa, and Manjunath Hebbar, were present. Students Mohammed Ghitrif Rida, Ahmed Damda, Muhammad Yusha Siddiqa, Hanzala, Habib Motia, Mohammed Afham Mohtisham, Mohammed Zian Bengali, Syed Sabiq Barmawar, Mohammed Labid, and others also attended the event.
