Bhatkal: An awareness rally aimed at achieving 100% voter turnout in Bhatkal was organized under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) program. The rally was conducted under the supervision of the Uttara Kannada (UK) District Administration, UK Zilla Panchayat, Bhatkal Taluka Administration, and Bhatkal Taluka Panchayat.
Government officials, along with college students, participated in the rally, which commenced from the Bhatkal Taluka Administration building. The route took them through National Highway 66 and Shamsuddin Circle, culminating in a function at Guru Sudhindra College on Sagar road.
The rally was conducted to raise awareness about voting among the public. Officials encouraged citizens to exercise their right to vote and emphasized the importance of not letting their votes go to waste.
Upon reaching the college ground, participants arranged themselves in a formation that spelled out "SVEEP" from above.
Leading the rally were Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Dr. Naina, Bhatkal Tahsildar Nagaraj Naikad, Taluka Panchayat Executive Officer Prabhakar Chikkanmane, Bhatkal Town Municipal Chief Officer Shivananda Alur, Jali patan Panchayat Chief Officer Manjappa, Block Education Officer VD Moger, and several other government officials.
During the event, Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Dr. Naina highlighted that the assembly elections in Bhatkal recorded approximately 79% voting. However, the aim for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is to achieve 100% voting in Bhatkal.
Special provisions are being made for disabled and elderly voters, who will have the option to vote from home as polling officials will visit their residences. Dr. Naina urged young voters to actively participate in the voting process and emphasized the importance of each vote. Voting in Bhatkal is scheduled for May 7, and residents are encouraged to make their voices heard at the polls.
