New Delhi: Maintenance-related activities will cause the Passport Seva Portal to remain unavailable from Thursday (August 29) until September 2, as informed by the department's officials.

The system will be inaccessible during this period for the Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Passport Offices (RPOs), Bureau of Immigration (BOI), Indian Security Press (ISP), Department of Posts (DoP), and local police departments. According to the official notice on the website, all functions of the Passport Seva Portal will be suspended from 8:00 pm today, Thursday, until 6:00 am on September 2.

As a result of the maintenance period, all appointments for August 30 have been cancelled. The notice mentioned that these appointments will be rescheduled appropriately, and applicants will be notified via SMS.

Users are urged to plan their passport-related activities in advance to avoid any inconvenience. Following the advisory, regional passport offices have informed the public about the forthcoming outage. Additionally, the physical offices of Passport Seva Kendras will remain closed on Friday, as stated in a regional office announcement.

Regional Passport Offices in cities such as Jaipur, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Lucknow, Vijayawada, and Chennai have used social media platforms and official websites to notify applicants that the ‘seva kendras’ and walk-in enquiry counters at the main offices will be closed on Friday.

RPO Vijayawada specifically mentioned that appointments scheduled for August 30 will be rescheduled to next week between September 2 and 6, 2024. Revised appointment receipts can be downloaded from the official portal, www.passportindia.gov.in. Regional passport offices have also issued helpline numbers for further information, as detailed in the official press release.
