Bhatkal: The Abhyudaya Women Credit Cooperative Society called its first meeting on 31 July, Monday, following the election of the President and Vice President. However, the meeting was marred by a ruckus and a fight between two groups of women. Rajeshwari Naik, the bank manager, and executive officer of the society, left the meeting citing ill health. The opposition questioned the legality of the election of the president and vice president, leading to a dharna by the president, vice president, and other supporting directors inside the society office.
After a night-long dharna, Bhatkal Tahsildar Tippey Swami and Assistant Registrar (AR) GK Bhat, from Kumta, intervened and held a meeting with the protesting directors on Tuesday morning. They heard the complaints of the protestors.
On this occasion, the newly elected President Naina Naik said that they had received a notice about the directors' meeting scheduled for July 31. However, the bank manager went home without giving us the resolution book of the meeting, citing that she was not feeling well. Naina Naik expressed dissatisfaction with this action.
Then the authorities called for the resolution book and allowed the meeting. Along with this, all the seven directors, including the president and vice president, ended their protest and held a meeting in which only seven directors were present, and the other six did not participate. It is learned that several resolutions were passed in the meeting, including taking action against the bank manager. The meeting ended at around one o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, after which everyone left for their respective homes.
