Bhatkal: The "Save the Country Sankalp Yatra," driven by the resolve to shield the BJP from dominating the nation's administration and to uphold the constitution, arrived in Bhatkal on Friday to raise awareness among the locals.

The Yatra subsequently departed for Belgaum, passing through Honnavar and Kumta. A significant public event is scheduled in Belgaum on April 8 to inform and mobilize the public in the cause of national preservation.

During interactions with the media in Bhatkal, members of various progressive organizations from the state, part of the Sankalp Yatra team, emphasized the imperative of ousting the BJP from power to safeguard the constitution.

R Nagesh, Dr. Ramesh, and Vishnu Devadiga, speaking to reporters, articulated that the Yatra's objective is to counter the BJP government's detrimental agenda and foster public consciousness on this matter. They highlighted the pivotal juncture the country's constitution is facing, warning of potential changes and the ascendancy of oppressive forces if the current government retains power. Thus, preventing their ambitions is paramount to preserving the constitutional order and ensuring proper governance aligned with constitutional principles.

The speakers further denounced the BJP's governance over the past decade, citing escalating inflation, agrarian distress, unemployment, corruption, corporate plunder, exploitation of common citizens, religious discord, and neglect of Karnataka's interests as hallmarks of BJP rule. They accused the BJP of disregarding the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs and plotting alterations to a constitution that espouses equality and harmony, portraying the BJP as a betrayer of public trust.

Moreover, they alleged that the BJP, lacking a solid electoral track record, resorts to divisive tactics, stoking caste and communal tensions to secure votes. Given the Congress party's robust opposition to the BJP in the state, they announced their decision to support the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Naina Naik, President of the Bhatkal Congress Women's Unit, also delivered remarks during the event, joined by Ramesh Ankola, Talha Siddibapa of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Congress leader TD Naik, Meghna Naik, Mamata, Nagaratna Moger, and other attendees.
