Bhatkal: Thousands gathered outside the Bhatkal Taluk Administration Building for a silent protest organized by Majlise Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, demanding an immediate halt to Israel's brutal bombing of Palestine. The influential social organization presented a memorandum to the President of India, copied to Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India, emphasizing India's historical support for the Palestinian cause.
The memorandum called for India, as a UN Security Council member, to secure an immediate ceasefire, end the ongoing genocide against Palestinians, and initiate negotiations for a sovereign, independent, and united State of Palestine. It strongly condemned the indiscriminate attacks on Palestinian civilians, schools, hospitals, and refugee camps, labeling them as acts of genocide and crimes against humanity.
After Friday prayers, silent protestors, holding placards, filled the administration office compound, raising their voices against the atrocities in Palestine.
In a keynote address, Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, delivered a passionate speech, recalling India's historical support for oppressed Palestinians. He praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for acknowledging Palestinian oppression in Parliament.
Maulana Ilyas Nadvi condemned Israel's brutal bombing of innocent children, mothers, and common people, questioning their fault. He decried the killing of children and worshippers inside mosques, challenging Israel's impotence and cowardice. Maulana expressed satisfaction that more non-Muslims worldwide are standing against Israeli brutality. The people of Bhatkal raised their voices, urging the government to uphold its old stand and support the oppressed.
